Wayne Powell ready to lead Virginia 7th District

Democrat Wayne Powell for Congress

The 7th Congressional District of Virginia is a home to the Republican Party as they believe. But all districts is home to the American people. In this district the race for congress is getting hotter and the choice to represent the people of the 7th Congressional district has gotten clearer.

As the writer and blogger for the Political Beacon I always seek to endorse candidates that I feel is ready, willing and able to get the job done. I believe in electing someone who will represent the American people regardless of where they came from, and not the select few.

This election is very important in 2012; it is a defining election on where this country is headed. This election is a matter of whether we want more of the same or change for the better.

Wayne Powell is the man to move the 7th Congressional District forward.

Wayne Powell is a retired Army Colonel, a small business owner, and a community lawyer that understands the average American.

Wayne Powell was born and raised in Virginia’s 7th Congressional District. He is seeking the Democratic nomination to run for Congress against Republican Majority Leader Eric Cantor because veterans and working people need someone in Washington who will fight for them.

As owner and proprietor of the Powell & Parrish law firm, Wayne represents working people who need help making ends meet.

Wayne Powell served in the U.S. Army for 30 years, 5 years of active duty and 25 years in the Active Reserves. He was called back into active duty after September 11, 2001 to command a specialized Army intelligence unit. Wayne was highly decorated during his military career and awarded the Legion of Merit when he retired as a full Colonel in 2002.

Wayne was a Phi Beta Kappa graduate of the University of Richmond in 1972, and received a Master’s Degree from the University of Wisconsin, Madison in 1973. After 4 years of full time military service, Wayne Powell attended the T.C. Williams School of Law at the University of Richmond and graduated in 1980.

Wayne served as Staff Clerk to the Supreme Court of Appeals of Virginia, was appointed Assistant Attorney General by then Attorney General Gerald Baliles, and served as Deputy Commissioner of the Virginia Worker’s Compensation Commission for six years. He entered private practice in 1991, and founded his present firm of Powell & Parrish in 1999.

I believe that Wayne Powell is uniquely qualified, Wayne believes that our elected representatives should be partners, rather than obstacles, to the success of our communities. Wayne wants to represent the working men and women who too often feel neglected by a political system in which big corporations and partisan agendas hold undue influence.

Wayne and his wife Katherine live in Chesterfield County. He is the proud father Sean, a Major in the Army currently serving in Afghanistan, and Michelle, a legal professional, and the proud grandfather of five.

The choice is very clear, Wayne Powell will not go to Washington and hinder progress, but work with the President to get business done for the American people.
